RailYatri.in, a technology company that builds products to help train travellers in India, has launched RailYatri Insights, a unique Big Data and discovery tool that will allow train passengers in India to derive answers to such questions.
Let us face it, a trip that you might have planned for a long time can really turn into a nightmare if the train, carrying you and your loved ones, is frequently delayed or has a bad record in terms of its services. People today look forward to comfort while traveling. “The number of decision criteria which every train traveller has to consider at various stages of the life cycle of the journey is simply mind-blowing and can drive up trip-related stress.
Our launch of Rail Yatri Insights addresses to the growing need for Big Data analysis in order to uncover hidden yet useful information which train travellers in India can effectively utilise,” says Manish Rathi, co-founder and CEO, RailYatri.in.
As such, RailYatri Insights provides insights from train traveller data spread across hundreds of meta-data fields and behavioural information sources captured by RailYatri. For effective communication of information, RailYatri Insights also uses Google Maps so that train travellers can easily relate to data associated with their geography or cities.
The new service by RailYatri.in provides detailed information on all the aspects related to every long distance and local trains from all the major cities in India. RailYatri.in and the app also help travellers have their favourite cuisine on board by providing information about the nearby restaurants of some 250 railway stations and order food. Hiring a taxi at the city of destination can be done through both the mobile app and the website. Presently, this service is available for 30 major cities.
From expected delay in a particular station in the route of the train one is traveling in to availability of mobile network during the journey—Insights tool maintains all in its database.
Apart from bringing convenience to traveller’s lives, the tool addresses the most basic issues related to train travel— booking a confirmed ticket.
“According to our understanding, in future the demand for rail tickets will grow higher than its supply, leading to greater trouble for commuters to get a confirmed birth, says Rathi. “So, you would have to smarter to get a confirmed seat”, he adds.
The huge data bank, which Rathi aims to use intelligently, has been gathered over the years from more than 5 crore travelers across the country.
“Our primary focus was to simplify train travels in India.” As of now, the RailYatri.in CEO is banking on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to reach to more number of people with the services.
