It’s nearly two years since we’ve been hit by Covid-19 that has wreaked havoc across the globe and upended the lives of millions of people. The pandemic has not only decimated economies but led the hustle and bustle of daily life to a standstill. However, things are getting back to normal now. With offices getting opened, people have started adapting the old normal but with more precautions this time.
One of the leading Digital marketing agencies in India, iCubesWire has reopened their offices last year itself after four months of the first lockdown. Since then, the team is up, kicking and slowly rebuilding. Most of their team member sitting across 7 offices has made sure they are up and charged. But, there are a whole lot of people blaming Covid circumstances for their downfall. Is it so? To an extent, we believe it but now that things are getting back on track, we should stop blaming and rather think positively to bring us back into this competitive world.
Sahil Chopra, Founder & CEO- iCubesWire has been observing the things at a large scale and on that basis he has curated a few points on how not to blame COVID for the downfall and take your business at a peak.
1. Business has 2 metrics:
• Revenue minus Expenses = Profit. If you can’t do this, you’ll blame Covid and many other factors.
• Money in the bank is Gold. Cash and cashflow is the key.
2. People matter, but the “correct” ones
These times define who is what and who isn’t what (Doodh ka doodh and paani ka paani). Many of our people did rise up to the challenge and many didn’t/couldn’t. People do matter, but the correct ones. Makes sure you learn your people lessons (Both personal and professional).
3. Being correct is a lot more important than being popular. Go ahead and make those correct moves and hope some of them are popular as well. Do stand with your decisions and have the courage. Be super vocal – go ahead and talk to your teams and be fragile and honest.
4. If you are still blaming Covid and hiding – you know your business fundamentals are flawed or there aren’t any. The worst is behind and everyone needs to face the music and rise now.
5. Health is wealth, and good physical mental health does help you fight the biggest fights. If your life isn’t natural, you are prone to depression. Alcohol, tobacco is always going to make difficult situations worse. Being off them for months will only make things easier and more efficient.
6. Karma is for real – miracles do happen with people/organizations who have been genuinely been there. Some can, some cant, who do see miracles and magic
7. Follow your gut feeling = 99% of the times it is correct. Listen to it, believe and follow it, you’ll be surprised.
8. No one will gift you a job or a client contract – There are no free lunches, stop expecting someone to feel pity on your Linkedin post and help you. Many just want to get noticed by someone successful, no one gives a shit, you’ll get noticed by your value.
9. No loan is the best policy. Don’t use your credit card on things you are buying to impress people who don’t matter. While buying assets, buy double your worth, while buying liabilities buy half your worth, sadly most do inversely. First, understand the difference between assets and liabilities.
