In a first, Delhi Police has set up online citizen communities for all the 11 districts to improve its interface for communicating effectively with the residents.
The initiative aims at improving law and order in the state by connecting the citizens with each other and their district police. Over 35,000 people have already become members of the 11 district level law and order circles.
Using these online communities, district police can abreast them on crime related information, tips, local police initiatives among others, said a senior police official.
The official said that residents will also be able to bring up law and order issues in their respective district communities and seek assistance from other members or the police.
In less than a week since the constitution of communities, people are reporting and discussing issues like chain snatching, crime against women, unauthorised parking, street vendor encroachments, police said.
