State-run Bank of Baroda (BoB) has partnered mobile payment application Chillr, enabling customers to send money to anyone in their phonebook.
State-run Bank of Baroda (BoB) has partnered mobile payment application Chillr, enabling customers to send money to anyone in their phonebook. The company already has a tie-up with HDFC Bank and is in advanced stage talks with five other banks, Chillr Founder and CEO Sony Joy told PTI.
Elaborating on the partnerships, Joy said customers of these two banks can transfer and receive money whereas customers belonging to any other bank can receive money but they can’t send money.
“The app is presently made available on Android platform and will be made available on iOS and Windows platform shortly. Utility bill and merchant payments on Chillr app will be enabled for BoB customers soon,” Bank of Baroda General Manager, Digital Banking K Venkateswarlu said.
Joy said there are 3.75 lakh downloads so far, of which 2 lakh people have linked the bank accounts with the app and close to 5 lakh transactions have taken place. Joy said the association with banks is aimed at providing the customers with a secure and an instant money transfer facility to any contact in their phonebook.
Chillr is directly linked to the customer’s bank account and can transfer money to any person in India, once he/she downloads the app and registers.
