Dell addresses industry trends with its new PowerEdge server range

Dell has launched its new server portfolio, keeping in view customers need around application optimisations and workload requirements. The Dell PowerEdge 13th generation server portfolio features customer-centric engineering to offer optimise performance for the widest range of web, enterprise and hyperscale applications.

These servers comes with added features of storage, processing and memory technology along with systems management. According to Dell, the new servers are designed and equipped to deal with industry trends including cloud computing, mobility, big data and software-defined networking.

“90% of Indian IT Decision Makers (ITDMs) feel that there is a need for an IT structure that will tailor infrastructure to specific applications and workloads, according to a global research done by PBS. Additionally 90% also feel ITDMs are interested in making IT work like hyperscale types,” said Manish Gupta, Director- Enterprise Solutions Group, Dell India.

“Keeping this in mind, we are launching the 13th generation of servers which are focused on three underlying principles– accelerating application performance, empowering workloads in any environment and simplification of systems management,” added Gupta.

While the server range has been launched globally, Dell India R&D centre in Bangalore has played a big role in powering the PowerEdge servers software. This facility has 60% share in overall server systems management software including embedded firmware on Dell remote access controller and 100% on validation engineering and product documentation.

According to Rudramuni B, Executive Director & Head – R&D, Dell India,  the launch of 13G servers is yet again a show of Dell’s  product engineering contribution to unparalleled application performance by crafting specific subsystems.

“The creative minds at Dell’s India R&D have architected and engineered niche technologies to create differentiation in the market. With the contribution from 70% of the workforce at Bangalore Design Center, we are delighted to move the technology goal post further for the competition. It is heartening to the see the humble accomplishment in the eyes of Dell India engineers as 13G is launched and we start receiving accolades from worldwide customers,” added Rudramuni.

The Bangalore facility have around 700 engineers involved in R&D of software for servers.

Dell’s 13G server range includes PowerEdge R730xd, R730, R630 rack server, M630 blade server and T630 tower server. These servers are powered by Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product range and are coupled with Dell’s enterprise infrastructure offerings, software and services.

It also uses the in-server storage technology as well as automation and near field communication (NFC) based quick server management features.
