DocTube is democratizing healthcare knowledge by hosting more than 10 thousand medical videos which are created by doctors. Through its robust technology infrastructure, personalized AI-driven recommendations, and dedication to data security, DocTube is reshaping the future of healthcare education. In an interaction with Express Computer, Ashu Kasera, Co-Founder of Clirnet, shares with us his perspective on how DocTube is trying to empower the masses with invaluable medical content, bridging gaps, and redefining the way healthcare information reaches the world
Some edited excerpts:
What technology infrastructure does Doctube rely on to host and deliver its videos?
DocTube is built on a robust technology infrastructure that ensures optimal hosting and delivery of its videos. It relies on AWS CloudFront, a highly scalable and globally distributed content delivery network, to provide fast and reliable video streaming to users across different regions. With CloudFront, DocTube can deliver videos with low latency and high performance. In addition, DocTube utilizes a Next.js based front-end framework, for building and managing its platform. This framework offers advantages such as server-side rendering, static site generation, and efficient caching, enabling DocTube to deliver dynamic and interactive video content seamlessly at scale.
How does Doctube utilize artificial intelligence or machine learning to enhance user experience or recommend relevant medical content?
DocTube utilizes advanced algorithms to analyze user behavior, preferences, and interactions with the videos. Doctube gauges user patterns and interests, allowing it to recommend tailored medical content based on a user’s specific needs. This includes suggesting related videos, topics, or specialties that align with their viewing history or search queries. Additionally, AI algorithms enable Doctube to extract meaningful insights from the vast amount of video data available. This includes automatic video tagging, transcription, and metadata extraction, which helps in organizing and categorizing the content effectively. These AI-powered features enhance search capabilities, making it easier for users to find the most relevant medical videos quickly.
Does DocTube utilize any virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) technologies to provide immersive medical educational experiences?
While DocTube is at the forefront of innovation and it constantly striving to enhance user experience, our main priority is to raise awareness amongst the masses of India. Our people, processes and technology are all directed towards engaging masses to make healthcare more equitable, accessible and affordable.
While teams at our parent company, CLIRNET do work with AR/VR for clinical content for Doctors, DocTube with its mandate focused towards masses does not utilize these advanced technologies as they lack mass adoption.
How does DocTube ensure that its platform is accessible across different devices and operating systems?
DocTube is built with a strong focus on inclusivity, aiming to cater to the needs of the next billion internet users to achieve accessibility, equitability and affordability in healthcare. In fact, 80% of the videos hosted on DocTube are in regional languages, to make it relatable and consumable by the common man.
The platform ensures that all devices capable of browsing the internet can access and view DocTube’s content seamlessly. This is made possible through the implementation of Server-Side Rendering (SSR) technology where our infrastructure does the heavy lifting. By leveraging SSR technology, DocTube optimizes the rendering process on the server side, delivering pre-rendered content to devices. This approach enhances the platform’s accessibility across a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and even low-powered devices with limited processing capabilities. Adaptive bit rate streaming of videos allows us to be mindful of the data streaming requirements for video consumption and optimizes the data usage for users. This ensures that users can access valuable medical content on DocTube without any limitations or barriers, supporting the platform’s mission to democratize healthcare education and reach a global audience. The platform is available as an android app to support devices across the spectrum.
Are there any specific encryption or security measures in place to protect user data and ensure privacy?
DocTube adheres to stringent data protection policies and implements robust encryption measures to safeguard both data at rest and data in transit. Best-in-class encryption protocols are employed to ensure that user information remains secure and protected from unauthorized access. As an organization, DocTube follows the strongest user data protection principles, ensuring that user privacy is respected and maintained. In line with this commitment, DocTube holds an ISO 27001 certification, demonstrating its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of information security management. The platform’s focus on data security ensures that sensitive information is safeguarded, promoting a secure and trustworthy environment for users to access valuable healthcare education content.
Are there any plans to integrate telemedicine features or enable live video consultations with healthcare professionals through the Doctube platform?
While Doctube aims to provide comprehensive healthcare resources, specifically educational content, at this stage, there are no immediate plans to integrate telemedicine features or enable live video consultations with healthcare professionals through the platform. Options are available for patients to reach out to the content creators via a “Consult” button which links directly to the Doctors choice of online appointment booking platform. Our focus is on delivering high-quality and valuable content in regional languages seamlessly to the audience. However, Doctube remains open to exploring telemedicine integration in the future as part of its continuous development and expansion efforts.
