Goa Police have begun real-time monitoring of traffic on major bridges and junctions in the state to provide quick solutions to the traffic jams

Goa Police have begun real-time monitoring of traffic on major bridges and junctions in the state to provide quick solutions to the traffic jams, a senior official said.

“We have taken some new initiative by taking advantage of the available technology,” Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Suman Goyal told reporters.

“A small traffic control online casino room has been set up in Traffic Headquarters, Altinho, to monitor real-time traffic movement on important routes, specially during peak hours,” she said. The state has some important bridges on Zuari and Mandovi rivers and crucial junctions at Miramar, Dona Paula, Malim, Merces, among others.

“Whenever any blockage is noticed immediately an alert is given to the officers on the field and remedial measures are taken in least possible time. This system was set-up last month and it helped in traffic regulations during the peak tourist season on the occasion of New Year,” she said. Traffic Police have also activated their Facebook page and regular updates on important events are posted on it, she said.
