Close to 12 lakh people have opened their digital locker account and jointly uploaded over 22 lakh documents.
States such as Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Telanga and Kerala have issued over 1 crore documents to users of Digital Locker, enabling them to digitally share documents through email.
“DigiLocker issued documents are the core of the platform and they just hit the 1-crore number,” Digital Locker blog today said.
The concept of Digital Locker is to free people from carrying load of paper documents and enable to share documents with concerned authority or department online. The idea is also to free people from cumbersome process of getting government documents attested and then presenting it to other government authorities.
State government of Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Telanga and Kerala have linked some of their services with Digital Locker and issue certificates related to these services directly in to the account.
National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), erstwhile DOEACC Society, also issues some of its certificates directly in to digital locker account of students trained by it.

Maharashtra houses highest number of Digital locker registrant followed by Uttar Pradesh. with 1.29 lakh and 1.06 lakh accounts respectively.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been also working to issue marksheet in to digital locker account of students. The CBSE results for class 10 and 12 are expected to be announced by end of this month.
