KPIT, a global IT consulting and product engineering company, has partnered with EMC to transform its storage and backup environments thereby reducing its back up window by 60 percent, ensuring 100 percent reliability and achieving improved productivity of the data centre team by over 30 percent.
Also, its cloud deployment times have reduced from eight to one week and the deployment of virtual desktops on EMC’s ExtremIO flash technology is delivering huge energy and space savings while improving end user experience.
KPIT has been an early technology adopter and has been experiencing over 50 percent increase in data demands. Therefore it needed a long-term strategy for its data centre back up and at the same time wanted to implement a flexible workplace technology that would simplify desktop management and double its number of virtual desktops without compromising end user performance.
Mandar Marulkar, Vice President and Global IT Head – KPIT Technologies said , “EMC technology has helped us to simplify IT management and reduce the management overhead of the entire infrastructure. It is due to high end technologies such as Vblock platform and ExtremIO that we can have close to 1500 virtual desktops running on a single rack”.
“The relationship EMC builds with its customers and the level of support it delivers to the client differentiates it from its peers. EMC has moved from being a vendor to becoming a proactive partner,” added Marulkar.
“We are delighted to support KPIT in its journey to cater to the increasing and new demands in its IT environment. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. EMC through its innovative solutions is helping organisations across the globe to redefine their application environments and accelerate their journey to the hybrid cloud,” said Abhijit Potnis, Director Technology
Solutions – India and SAARC, EMC.
