End of support countdown starts for Windows XP and Office 2003

Microsoft has announced that it will end support for Windows XP and Office 2003 by April 2014. Next year,  Microsoft will shut down extended support for its 12-year-old operating system, in favor of newer platforms like Windows 7 and 8.

Businesses that are using Office 2003 will need to migrate to Office 365 as Microsoft will end support for it as well at the same time. “Business and personal technology has dramatically changed over the last decade. PC desktops are now commonly found side by side with laptops, and newer form factors like Ultrabooks, all in ones, and tablets. writeable CDs are today replaced by cloud-based storage solutions like SkyDrive. Connectivity and accessibility once limited to offices is now possible at home, in the car or even on a beach. The newest versions of Windows and Office that Microsoft released recently, Windows 8 and Office 365, reflects this evolution,” the company said in a press release.

Many Indian companies have decided to migrate to Windows 8 and Office 365. Companies such as Wipro, BIAL, Essar, BOB, TCS have deployed Windows 8. Also, there are several companies like Godrej Industries, Tata Elxsi and  GAV Technologies. that have deployed Office 365. For companies that are not sure of the right solution for them, Microsoft is offering a variety of resources to help businesses, the release said.
