The Financial Express is proud to present the second edition of the Express IT Awards, an initiative to honour the companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation and the leading professionals across the IT/ITeS industry.
The Express IT Awards aim to set the benchmark for the information technology industry, discovering and celebrating its finest talents and efforts.
Indeed, the awards have already emerged the gold standard with their inaugural edition in 2013 drawing nearly 400 entries from India’s top-tier IT companies, multinationals, SMEs and start-ups, all contesting for prizes across seven competitive categories.
Infosys’ former executive chairman NR Narayana Murthy was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 2013 while N Chandrasekaran, chief executive officer and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), bagged the Newsmaker of the Year Award 2013.
As we set the bar higher this year, our endeavour is to discover, recognize and reward initiatives that have enabled businesses to go beyond the ordinary. The $118-billion Indian IT-ITeS industry employs over 3 million people directly, which makes it one of the largest organised private sector employers in the country. It indirectly provides job opportunities to over 9.5 million people.
Today, India not only commands a huge chunk of the global outsourcing market across both IT and BPO, but it is also cementing its position as a hub for research and development, a role in which a vast pool of engineers are crunching enormous amounts of data being churned out in a connected world.
The Express IT Awards 2014 are currently in the process of inviting entries from companies, for which the last date is September 12. This will be followed by screening of applicants. Contenders for each of the award categories will be short-listed and an eminent jury — comprising globally recognised innovators, corporate heads, academicians and thought-leaders from the IT industry — will decide the winners.
This year, the awards will be focussed solely on companies in the IT/ITes sector, unlike the previous edition which had considered entries from companies in various sectors that had best utilised technology to drive growth and change.
There will be a total of 18 awards across nine categories. The awards (Gold and Silver for each category) for IT Innovation, IT.Biz, Mobility Solutions, Analytics Solutions, Green Technology, IT Entrepreneurship and Cloud Solutions will be based on the ‘call for entries’ process. The two special categories, namely the IT Newsmaker of the Year Award and the IT Lifetime Achievement Award, will be based on nominations by senior editors from The Financial Express along with recommendations from the jury.
