Cisco today announced that the Essar Group has deployed the award-winning Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) to support the implementation of SAP HANA (High Performance Analytic Appliance). Optimized on the Cisco UCS platform, HANA, along with SAP BusinessObjects BI solutions, brings all of the data within the reach of decision makers in seconds, helps enable innovative new applications, and combines high-volume transactions with analytics.
With Cisco UCS as the preferred infrastructure choice, Essar plans to roll out SAP HANA across the organization in phases over the next 12 to 18 months. SAP solutions combined with the Cisco UCS provide significant value through standards-based, high-performance unified fabric, improved memory capacity, reduced power consumption and lower total cost of ownership.
N Jayantha Prabhu, Chief Technology Officer, the Essar Group, said, “We expect in-memory computing to be a game-changer and were looking for a server platform designed to achieve high availability and performance. The Cisco Unified Computing System, which is based on industry standards, has met our expectations and we believe that it serves as an ideal server platform for enterprise-critical applications like SAP HANA. With Cisco UCS, we are confident of achieving our ROI from our investment in SAP software.”
- By building on the benefits of the Cisco UCS platform, Essar now enjoys quick access to data/information – without the delay of typical enterprise data warehouses
- The Cisco UCS platform offers stateless computing capabilities with dynamic server provisioning, unified fabric, and comprehensive management across both physical and virtual environments for reduced total cost of ownership (TCO)
- The simplified design of the Cisco UCS Servers improves airflow efficiency and can reduce the number of components that need to be powered and cooled by more than 50% compared to traditional blade server environments
