SAS, announced the resounding success of the 5th Annual Hackathon organised in partnership with the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). The event, held under the theme & Everything, Everywhere All at Once: Gen AI in Business & Innovation, showcased immense talent and innovation among students. The hackathon, which attracted participation from 425 colleges, received an overwhelming response with a total of 1319 registrations. Students were provided with a dataset centered around the theme, encouraging them to identify unique problem statements and propose innovative solutions. Following a rigorous first-round assessment test, the top 70 candidates were invited to the GIM campus for the final two rounds of the competition. These rounds delved deeper into the application of AI in addressing real-world challenges, highlighting the participant’s analytical and problem-solving skills.
The championship commenced with a keynote address by Dr Naga Venkatesh Devaguptapu, Dean (Academics) Goa Institute of Management “Data Science is now omnipresent as a way of doing business and Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence are today a part of the must-have skill-set package for managers across businesses. GIM envisioned this several years back and in line with this, we were the first business school to offer a PGDM in Big Data Analytics. Our PGDM in Big Data Analytics program has been ranked as the 2nd best program in the country by Analytics Insight and 4th by Analytics India Magazine. Bitathon is an annual hackathon jointly conducted by GIM in association with SAS to challenge, engage and activate budding data scientists.”

The teams participating in Bitathon utilised data analytics to predict trends within the Telecom Industry, thereby emphasising the pivotal role that data analytics can play in identifying and managing challenges faced by the industry worldwide.”
The winners of Bitathon 2024 were:
Team 1: Team Amaze – Ravi Ranjan, Sanjeev Khatwani, Amit Kumar Singh from SP Jain Institute of
Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai.
Team 2: Team Trinity – Jayashankar A, Akash Chakilam, Aadharsh Girish from Goa Institute of
Management (GIM), Goa.
Team 3: Team Stak Alliance – Tarun Bhardwaj, Sooraj K from Goa Institute of Management (GIM), Goa.
The winning team, Amaze, adopted a strategic approach by providing value-added recommendations
centered around customer segmentation to maximize value. They conducted delinquency analysis, and churn analysis modeling, and utilised sentiment analysis in real-time data to address the challenges faced by the Telecom Industry.
