Facebook’s new notifications on the mobile app will let users customise information, according to life events or birthdays, Sports scores, TV reminders, etc.
Facebook notifications will undergo a revamp on the mobile app as the company plans to introduce a ‘card-style’ of presenting these. Facebook made the announcement in a press statement and said that they will start rolling out the expanded notifications to Android and iPhone users in the US first.
The new notifications style will let users customise information according to life events or birthdays, Sports scores, TV reminders (based on pages a user likes on Facebook), alerts about upcoming events, etc. In short, bid goodbye to that long list of notifications and get ready for a more list-based style of alerts.
Facebook says users can also get additional, optional information in the new notifications tab. This information will be tailored for a user based on their location history.
This part of the Notifications tab will have local events and news, weather updates, movies playing in cinema halls close by and a list of nearby places to eat. The update will not change current notification settings for any users. Facebook users can also customise the information they see by tapping the arrow to the right of each card, or choose “add more cards”, which will be shown at the bottom of the notifications tab.
