Lead Angels aims to boost funding for startups

Early stage funding organization Lead Angels recently held a meeting of its Ahmedabad Chapter with a view to identifying and supporting entrepreneurs in the city.

Founded by a team of three people hailing originally from IIT Bombay, Lead Angels has been operating in Mumbai since October 2013.

Some of the companies have been shortlisted for detailed study by the network.
The founding team of Lead Angels includes C. Amarnath, who retired as a professor of Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay, Sushanto Mitra , ex-CEO of Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, IITB, and IITB graduate Bipin Kumar.

Members in Ahmedabad include successful entrepreneurs and senior corporate leaders and investors who want to support other entrepreneurs by investing their time and money. Mitra said, “We are extremely happy with the enthusiasm for angel investing in Ahmedabad but it comes as no surprise given the strong entrepreneurial and investment culture in the city.”

Entrepreneur & MD of Contech BPO Services as well as President of TIE Ahmedabad Chapter, Rajan Vasa, added that a structured angel investing platform was a missing link in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Ahmedabad and Lead Angels can bridge the gap.
