Now, Symantec joins VMware Mobile Security Alliance

VMware AirWatch platform will now offer advanced machine learning techniques through Symantec’s Global Intelligence Network for integrated identity management and unified endpoint management

In a significant boost to VMware AirWatch platform, global security giant Symantec has joined VMware Mobile Security Alliance to work  on comprehensive endpoint management and threat security.

Under the partnership, US-based virtual infrastructure company, VMware will now offer advanced machine learning techniques through Symantec’s “Global Intelligence Network” for integrated identity management and unified endpoint management through VMware AirWatch platform.

According to cybersecurity experts, an effective cyber security requires understanding and leveraging the latest in information intelligence, machine learning, behavior analysis, zero-day threats and big data. Therefore, it is crucial to bring this type of intelligence into mobile security as devices and apps have increasingly become the target for cyber attacks ranging from malware to ransomware.

“When you combine threat and information protection technologies with a platform that provides access to device and application, the outcome is incredibly powerful for mutual customers,” said Sean Doherty, vice president of technology partnerships and alliances at Symantec.

Agreeing with Doherty, Blake Brannon, vice president, product marketing, end-user computing, Vmware said in a statement, “Our partnership with Symantec will be focused on addressing these needs and will offer mutual customers a validated and integrated approach to managing both device security and remediation across their mobile deployments.”

Basically, in September 2015 at AirWatch Connect conference, AirWatch had launched Mobile Security Alliance to help customers eliminate potential weaknesses in their mobile device management policies. From 10 founding members, which included – Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Check Point, FireEye, Appthority, Lookout, Pradeo, Proofpoint, Skycure, Veracode and Zimperium, the alliance today has over 18 members including Symantec, Intel Security, BlueCoat, F5, among others.
