“The food delivery segment is now witnessed to a lot of traction, and it is not surprising that the segment is growing at a fast clip. Significantly, the online food delivery market constitutes 17% of the overall other online services pie,” the report said.
Talking about the online activity in other sectors, it said online booking for commuting (cabs etc.) has also seen a rapid growth during 2014 accounting for 30 per cent growth. By the end of 2014, the online commuting market in India was Rs 600 crores.
“The other online services market has grown with a CAGR of 73 per cent since 2010 and was valued at Rs 2,025 crore by December 2014. This segment includes emerging service categories like online entertainment ticketing, online commuting, online food and grocery delivery,” Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) said.
Similarly, online buying of tickets for movies, sports, shows/ concerts accounted for 49 per cent in the the overall pie and stood at Rs 990 crore.Further the report said that the online grocery market accounted for six per cent of the total other online services.
IAMAI-IMRB data also revealed that the e-Tailing category has grown manifold with a CAGR of 33% from Rs 2,372 crores in the year 2010 (Jan-Dec 2010) to Rs 10,004 crores in year 2013 (Jan-Dec 2013). It further grew by 1.4 times and reached Rs 24,046 crores in December 2014.
