Sakthi Auto Components ties up with IBM

IBM has announced that Sakthi Auto Components Limited, part of the Sakthi Group of companies, has selected the vendor for consolidating and strengthening its IT infrastructure.

Sakthi Auto components wanted to enjoy the benefits of virtualization through its partnership with IBM. The company needed a robust and cost-effective hardware solution. It engaged IBM to help consolidate its IT infrastructure with System X servers and Storwize V7000 storage.

“We wanted to move towards a scalable environment with reduced costs and improved performance. For us, it was important to have an IT partner who had the expertise and solution that would help us achieve our objective of unifying our existing servers and continuing our operations, centralized from our Data center,” said R Varadharajan, Assistant General Manager – IT, Sakthi Group. “This move would also be valuable to us in terms of providing scalability to our business and making faster business decisions.”

With a more reliable and resilient IT infrastructure, Shakti Auto will be able to provide better customer services and continue with their growth objectives.

Coimbatore is an important city for IBM. It has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years due to the development of the local textile, manufacturing and IT services. IBM launched an office in Coimbatore last year and has since been working with clients in the region to provide advanced software solutions, technologies and services, to aid their business growth. The vendor is cultivating local technology talent by partnering with local colleges and universities in Coimbatore, as part its global academic program.

Sakthi Auto is a major supplier of critical components like steering knuckles, brake drums, brake discs, hubs, brake calipers, and carriers, to leading car manufacturers such as Maruti Udyog Ltd., Hyundai, Ind Auto Ltd., Ford, and Honda Siel Cars, among others.
