SAP has announced plans to implement its Startup Focus program in India. Through this, it will help Indian startups scale their business through the adoption and development of new applications on HANA, a real-time data platform. Over 30 startups have been invited to attend the event.
Through the Startup Focus program, SAP will help Indian businesses run better, offering greater access to the benefits of SAP HANA’s open platform, powerful processing speed, ability to handle ‘big data’ and next-generation applications.
“As the global economy recovers the future of innovation and promise of sustainable development largely relies on entrepreneurs and small businesses,” said Dr. Vishal Sikka, member of the SAP Executive Board, Head of Technology & Innovation. “We are excited to now cooperate and grow with Indian startups to leverage the breakthrough innovations of HANA to tackle ‘big data’ challenges at the speed of light.”
SAP will work with its Venture Capital and Private Equity partners to identify and support qualifying startup companies in the program.
“I am excited to be a part of the SAP startup forum to know more about HANA, see how it fits into the company’s product roadmap and understand how it compares to other in-memory technologies. I am also looking forward to do a proof of concept with it,” said Puneet Giri, CEO, Ahoy Telecom Pvt Ltd.
Launched in March 2012, the SAP Startup Focus program aims to bolster innovation in startup communities around the globe by making SAP HANA’s breakthrough capabilities easily available to entrepreneurs and small businesses for development. Through a series of events across the world, the program offers eligible participants a simple, inexpensive and effective development accelerator, as well as the opportunity for collaboration and learning with fellow entrepreneurs and SAP executives at day-long forums.
