Sify achieves VMware’s vCloud Powered status

Sify has announced that it has achieved VMware vCloud Powered status. Sify’s services will be powered by VMware’s vSphere and VMware vCloud Director.

Kamal Nath, CEO, Sify Technologies, said, “Our cloud business volume, infrastructure and complexity of deployments were the proof-points that led to this recognition from VMware. It validates our increasing capabilities and will endorse our multiple service lines in the Cloud business.”

As a member of the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), Sify will provide its VMware vCloud Powered service as a set of cloud computing services across a common platform, supporting the largest set of existing applications and offering distinctive application mobility, uniquely available from VMware.

Customers will now have the ability to move workloads from their VMware vSphere-based virtualized or private cloud environment to the VMware vCloud Powered service and back again. This application portability is a key differentiator allowing customers to achieve the flexibility and security they need while enabling increased IT agility.

“The VMware vCloud Powered program was developed to enable our service provider partners to differentiate themselves and help them bring their enterprise-class Cloud services to market in this competitive landscape,” said T Srinivasan, Managing Director, VMware India & SAARC. “We look forward to supporting Sify further as it delivers on the agility and performance customers are looking for in the Cloud computing landscape.”

For customers to experience cloud computing and understand its benefits, Sify has invested in demo labs that allow customers to experience the benefits of VMware vCloud Powered services. These labs have enabled many organizations to re-think and optimize their IT infrastructure investments. Sify currently has 125 customers for its Cloud services.
