Sweet’N’Spicy app moves to Windows Azure

Sweet’N’Spicy application by Adhish Technologies adopted the recently launched Windows Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to remove complexity, save cost and to have enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure. In order to improve the performance of the application and meet the requirements of a growing user base, Adhish Technologies chose Microsoft’s cloud over its existing vendor. Sweet’N’Spicy is a top-rated Indian cooking app available on Windows Phone and Windows 8 platforms along with all other major app stores and has over 1.5 million downloads.

Before migrating to Windows Azure IaaS, Adhish Technologies evaluated many other platforms for hosting the IT backbone of their flagship app Sweet’N’Spicy that was witnessing a high positive response from all over the world. It witnessed a significant improvement in the performance of Sweet’N’Spicy app by merely migrating to Windows Azure, that too without increasing its infrastructure capacity. By Windows Azure IaaS, companies have now option of the hybrid environment at their terms where they can choose mix of both on-premise and cloud for their workloads.

Srikanth Karnakota, director, Server and Cloud Business, Microsoft said, “Windows Azure IaaS is the critical piece of Microsoft’s hybrid cloud strategy. By adopting Windows Azure IaaS, Adhish Technologies can certainly stay at ease when it comes to managing the app’s technical backend and focus in building the business tier and features for their application. An open, cost effective platform and ability to quickly migrate an existing application and deep technical support are the key factors that enabled Adhish technologies to choose Windows Azure IaaS.”

Vijaianand Mohan, Co-founder Adhish Technologies expressed “We decided to migrate to Windows Azure because we wanted to host our app on an infrastructure that was enterprise grade. It took us less than a week in the migration process and we were backed by full support and guidance of Microsoft team in the process. Windows Azure provides some great services such as VM endpoints that reduce pain points associated with maintaining and configuring multiple servers in a traditional hosting environment. The ability to scale-up or scale-down our infrastructure to better cater to a fluctuating demand is really a boon!”
