TK Elevator has been bestowed with the 1st prize in Industry general category for exhibiting excellence in the arena of Energy Conservation and Management by Maharashtra State Energy Development Agency (MEDA). This award has been conferred on TK Elevator for its exemplary efforts in promoting efficient utilization, management and conservation of energy.
Some of the important energy conservation initiatives that played a pivotal role in TK Elevator winning this award are- Its solar plant at MPF (Multi-Purpose Facility) in Chakan, Pune generating 821 kw green energy thereby meeting 66% of its energy requirements; significant reduction in Co2 emission by 771 ton /year; similarly reduction in electrical specific energy consumption by 41% and thermal specific energy consumption (PNG ) by 31%.
Energy saving initiatives which TK Elevator has taken at its MPF include optimizing its powder coating units, air conditioning systems as well as electrical transformers. The company has also introduced electrically operated forklifts or scissor lifts, which runs 100% on battery. Installation of motion sensors, LED lights and energy efficient machines such as punching, bending, compressors with VFD further optimizes energy consumption of its operations.
Furthermore, to conserve water resources, TKE’s MPF recycles 100% of its consumed water, treated water is used for gardening. Drip irrigation & sprinkler systems and water savings taps further saves water at consumption stage. On the production front, material conservation is done through reduce, reuse & recycling.
A testimony to the exemplary efforts by TK elevator to environment and energy conservation is various Global recognition and awards conferred upon the company, such as an impressive score on climate protection from the rating organization CDP. For the second time in a row, the company was rated “A” in the world’s largest climate ranking. The company has also topped the global Sustainalytics ESG ranking in machinery industry. In this category, the internationally renowned rating agency had analyzed over 500 organizations across the globe, awarding TK Elevator with a “Low Risk” rating. TKE India had recently won Gold Medal for adoption of green manufacturing practices as well.

Talking about TK Elevator’s ambitious sustainability targets, he said that the company strives to become climate-neutral by 2050 at the latest and thus supports the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” initiative, which is based on the Paris Agreement goals. By 2030, electricity is to be used only from renewable sources. At the same time, innovative products and services such as energy-efficient elevators and escalators, the cloud-based digital platform MAX or the space-saving TWIN elevator system are helping to increase resource efficiency and to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the value chain.
