Trimax to serve customer infrastructure needs with IBM PureSystems

IBM today said that Trimax IT Infrastructure and Services Limited (Trimax), an IT infrastructure services and solutions provider, will deploy a cloud environment based on PureSystems to make its business more efficient. The solution aims at providing the flexibility many Trimax customers need to scale as their business requirements expand.

Trimax, a Rs783 crore ($157 million) company by revenue with 600+ support locations, 1600+ employees and clients across key industry sectors in India. It offers end-to-end services in the IT Services and Solutions space such as managed IT services including managed network services, facilities management services, remote infrastructure management, data centre and cloud services, business analytics, turnkey solutions and more. Trimax also provides tailored solutions in e-Governance, transport, and banking and financial services domain.

Companies in India are increasingly relocating their IT infrastructure to data centres to avoid
downtime and save costs, which create significant market opportunity. India’s leading MSPs are
investing to meet this growing demand. Currently, the majority of the MSPs are mainly offering infrastructure services. However, the real competitive advantage will be gained by MSPs who will be able to differentiate through providing specialized services tailored to specific clients or
industries.

According to a research firm Gartner, there is a growing opportunity in this space with the data center co-location and hosting market estimated to double by 2016 and reach $1.3 billion.

“We have selected IBM’s Smarter Computing approach and PureSystems as it is a fitting platform for our needs. The combination of IBM’s technical expertise and focus on helping clients drive innovation with advanced technologies will enable us to move beyond our traditional client base and reach new markets. IBM PureFlex offers a compelling value proposition designed to scale on-demand, depending on business needs,” said Rajesh Tapadia, CTO, Trimax.

With its own Tier III Data Centre in Mumbai and its experience in servicing various government
bodies and enterprise sectors, Trimax needed an integrated system like IBM PureFlex for its cloud environment.

The Remote Application Services (RAS) and manageability features of the IBM PureFlex enable Trimax to offer x86 as well as Unix-based infrastructure on-demand from a single setup and also to cater to different workloads without any downtime. All this is done by adhering to a service level commitment to its clients. This solution enables Trimax to offer services in a cloud environment tailored to suit the needs of different clients and industries.

For example, several small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India are now looking at Disaster
Recovery Services as a key offering. The deployment of IBM Power nodes as part of the PureFlex can help Trimax compete in this market and gain momentum. Through its presence in smaller cities in India, Trimax will use IBM PureFlex to offer services to the small and medium businesses in different areas, for example, developing and testing new building materials.

“IBM is helping SMEs drive a paradigm shift by enabling them to anticipate and resolve problems proactively. These opportunities are helping our MSPs to not only create new business opportunities with clients but also pioneer new business models.PureSysems is ideal for MSPs evolving to SaaS/PaaS business models, emerging markets, medium sized businesses and application development/test use,” said Rahul Bindal, Country Manager, PureSystems, IBM India South Asia.
