Ultrabook with the third generation Intel Core processors

Ultrabook systems powered by third generation Intel Core processors are now available. “Similar to the introduction of Intel Centrino nearly a decade ago, this is a time of revolutionary change in personal computing,” said Debjani Ghosh, Managing Director, Sales & Marketing Group, Intel South Asia.

Ultrabook devices will wake up from deep sleep (S4 mode) to active state in less than seven seconds. Additionally, all Ultrabook devices are now required to be “responsive while active” which means that they will load and run users’ favorite apps quickly.

There’s USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt support. Anti-Theft technology lets you automatically disable the system if it is lost or stolen. Ultrabook users can activate free, limited-time Intel AT service subscriptions from Absolute Software, McAfee, Norton and Intel. In India this service is currently being offered by Croma.

“Croma is proud of being Intel’s first partner in offering Intel Anti-Theft service in India since last year. Mobile PC usage in India is on the rise and we expect to further accelerate it with the new Ultrabooks and increased mobility brings with it the need for increased security. With Intel Anti Theft technology we are able to secure the laptops and Ultrabooks purchased at our store so that our customers can safeguard their devices giving them peace of mind and helping us reaffirm our resolution of bringing a world-class shopping experience to our customers,” said Ajit Joshi, CEO & Managing Director, Infiniti Retail Ltd.

All the new Ultrabook devices have Intel Identity Protection technology. With this technology, a payments processor, a bank, an online merchant, a social media site or a gaming site can establish a trusted relationship with the Ultrabook user and reduce the chance that imposters are using their identities on enabled Web sites and social networks.

The third generation Intel Core processors deliver 22% faster performance on multi-threaded applications compared to their predecessors. Ultrabooks with these processors will have features like Quick Sync Video, Clear Video HD, HD Graphics, InTru 3D, Wireless Display and Intel Insider.

“Intel Insider technology, when combined with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi), will allow streaming of premium HD movies from a third generation Intel Core processor based PC or Ultrabook to an HD television, without cables, thereby delivering the ultimate movie-viewing experience to consumers, with stunning image clarity,” added Debjani Ghosh.

Conceived by Intel just over a year ago, over 20 systems have been introduced globally since October 2011 and momentum is growing with over 115 third generation Intel Core processor-based Ultrabook devices under development.

HCL, which was present at the conference, said it would launch the latest series of Ultrabooks with Intel i5 before the end of this year.

Intel believes touch capabilities will fuel the industry to innovate and experiment with the style and design of future clamshell and Ultrabook convertible systems.

A recent and significant breakthrough in chassis design using existing materials and standard injection molding equipment will enable an Ultrabook chassis that is equivalent in quality to machined aluminum and die-cast metal solutions in the market today. Borrowing engineering approaches from the automotive and aerospace industries, the new chassis design has the potential to reduce chassis costs by up to 65% and is expected to be in market next year.
