Technology and advancements in the tech world are undoubtedly reshaping lives globally. And, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has certainly found a spot in the good books of world leaders. However, have the bird’s eye view and the scale of the tech-led transformation goes beyond mere AI deployment. Especially, in terms of governance, the JAM (Jan-Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile) Trinity, a core aspect of the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) implementation, in India played a key role in pushing developments and reinvigorating effective e-governance. Noteworthily, AI packs immense potential to empower the existing IT infrastructure and build capabilities efficiently. Meanwhile, data sitting at the center of all technology developments is poised as the most valuable asset of the present and the upcoming era.

Such discussions made their way to Rio de Janeiro, wherein on the sidelines of the G20 Summit, India organised an event on DPI, AI, and data for governance. While addressing the eminent gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered to share the expertise India has developed in leveraging advanced technologies to improve the lives of people. The PM emphasised that Digital Public Infrastructure, AI, and data for governance are keys to achieving inclusive growth and transforming lives globally.

Director General of World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala took to X appreciating PM Modi’s views and sharing a glimpse of a brief meeting. The Director General tweeted, “Good exchange with H.E Prime Minister @narendramodi on the sidelines of the Government of India side event on Digital Public Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence and Data for Governance on the margins of the G20 Leaders meeting in Rio de Janeiro. @PMOIndia”

Meanwhile, Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund thanked PM Modi for highlighting the significance of DPI and AI in meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) enhancing sustainability across the globe. She tweeted, “Thank you, @narendramodi, for highlighting the importance of Digital Public Infrastructure, AI, and Data for Governance at the #G20Brazil Leaders’ Summit. Technology is vital for advancing the SDGs and transforming the lives of people across the world.”

Addressing the WHO investment round at the summit, PM Modi underlined the impact of technology in the healthcare sector and how world leaders across the globe should prioritise the integration of technology in the healthcare sector. He also emphasised that India will strengthen global efforts in this regard.
