Facing flak for not keeping its website updated, the Delhi BJP has been advised by a team of IT professionals to make its presence felt in the world of social media. The IT team has also advised the BJP to study the websites of US political parties such as the Democrats and Republicans, and also that of Indian party AAP.
“US political party sites majorly focus on the issues the US is facing and what Republicans or Democrats have done in regarding those issues. The websites mention government views and news related to it. Also mentioned on the websites are various communities, such as small businessman and those of African descent, and what the parties have done for them. Other details such as that of organisation, achievements, news and elections are also mentioned on the site,” the blueprint of suggestions for the ‘war room team for social media’ stated.
In order to catch up with what the party has done at the Centre, the IT team of Delhi BJP will be uploading blogs, latest news, videos, press releases, discussions in which party leaders have participated. “AAP party has highlighted its 49 days of governance and its grievance redressal cell. It focuses on the party’s positives and critisises the BJP.
The AAP website has an active, if not buzzing, discussion forum. We should learn by studying others,” a senior BJP leader said. Based on these suggestions, the blueprint of the renovated website has been prepared. Leaders said the new website will have flash of three latest news reports, list of videos and news, past and future events, blogs from the PM and other senior leaders.
A quick voting corner will be available for public views on issues in Delhi, interaction with MPs and MLAs and achievements of councillors and other leaders holding office. The team has been asked to initiate a research on the AAP, the Congress and other political parties to dig out what they have been doing on the ground and how they are highlighting it on their websites.
