Urban Development and Environment Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said public cooperation and awareness is necessary for developing a ‘Smart City’.
“Public cooperation, awareness and four pillars of democracy should play effective role in building a smart city,” Vijayvargiya said , addressing Development of Smart City-Next Gen Cities conference in Bhopal.
The minister said that the concept of Smart City depends on socio-economic background of the country. In a country like India, cities should be developed in a democratic way.
Former Union Secretary Urban Development Dr Sudhir Krishna said that development of smart city should not be considered as a difficult work. Framework of smart cities should be chalked out as per guidelines of Central government and consultation with experts.
The convention was organised by MP Post, Urban Development & Environment Department, Governance Now (Sab TV Group) and MPSEDC-Information Technology Department.
Commissioner Urban Development, Sanjay Shukla said that Madhya Pradesh has large number of small cites and Urban
Development department has taken up all the cities under its ambit.
The department has started automatic building plan and process for giving various permissions has been simplified, he said.
Group discussions were also held in which senior officers and office-bearers of various construction agencies deliberated on the concept of Smart City on the occasion.
