6WIND, the gold standard for data plane processing in software-defined networks and ALTEN Group announced a partnership to deliver best-in-class network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions to network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) and telecom operators worldwide. Through this partnership, the ALTEN group will offer technology consulting and implementation services around the 6WINDGate networking software to NEMs and telecom operators working to virtualize network functions as part of an SDN-based architecture.
NFV has emerged as a key approach to maximize network resource utilization by virtualizing functions traditionally implemented in dedicated hardware, thereby minimizing both CAPEX and OPEX.
Operators are increasingly adopting SDN-based network architectures in order to improve network manageability and accelerate the deployment of new services.
“The new partnership between 6WIND and ALTEN will enable telecom operators to accelerate the deployment of high-performance virtual network solutions,” said Eric Carmès, CEO of 6WIND. “As operators adopt innovative NFV and SDN-based architectures in their networks, they can now benefit from ALTEN’s expert consulting services in order to ensure the optimum integration of 6WINDGate into their equipment.”
“For the past few years, we have been providing technology consulting, engineering, deployment and business support services to our customers in cloud and software-defined networking space. This partnership brings best-in-class technology from 6WIND and the global service and support capability of ALTEN under one roof to help customers accelerate SDN deployments”, said Gerald Attia, Deputy CEO of ALTEN.
