Canon India is all set to drive growth in its Office Imaging Solutions (OIS) business in India with aggressive plans to expand beyond the tier II and III markets by 2015 end. Canon India’s OIS division has planned a deeper reach in the C, D and E class cities and towns across the country and expand its service locations to over 700 plus to provide service support to smaller towns and cities. The division is also targeting cities like Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Cochin, Patna and Bhubaneswar.

Under the strategic plan, the company is focusing on printing and scanning products as well as MDS (Managed Document Services) to large enterprises, SMEs and Government sectors. Currently, Canon holds top position in A3 MFP (multi-function-printer) segment with a 25.9 % market share as on June 2013 as per IDC report and company plans to increase its share to 29% by end of 2015.

The division is aggressively tapping the SME market specially the manufacturing units in C, D and E class where the print volume is around 1-2 lakh a month. Canon is working with its channel partners in these cities who will be focusing on SMEs and PSUs segments. It will  engage with channel partners and will enable some of selected partners with training and technology tools  like RAK (Rapid Access Key) to offer its services and solutions.

“Our approach is to give more consolidation and convenience to large enterprises and SMEs by saving electric cost, manpower and  operational expenses; and large enterprises can save up to 35% of overall expense,“ said K. Bhaskhar, Senior Director, Office Imaging Solutions Division, Cannon India.

“Our strategy is to target customers from C, D and E markets and expand our service reach to 700 locations across India. With this aggressive expansion plan, we also aim to increase our customer base for MDS to 100 by the end of 2013. We cater to both SMEs and large enterprise across verticals and with Canon MFPs and MDS companies will be able to save cost, get secure and eco-friendly printing,” added Bhaskhar.

Beside the MDS, company has rolled out its newly Cannon Business Service (CBS) late this year, which basically offers comprehensive service on document digitization and record management that includes document scanning, indexing, retrieving, storing and PDF based searching and others features. The Japanese company announced the CBS based after it  acquired Oce in 2009-10 period.

So far in India, CBS has only three customers – two from pharma and one from IT industry. Though, the CBS was rolled out lately, company has high expectation from this business. “We are expecting around Rs10-25 crore from CBS business by 2014,” said Bhaskhar.

Canon India, a 100% subsidiary of Canon Singapore reported Rs.1850 crore business in 2012 at 21% growth rate.  However, according to Bhaskhar, this year the company’s growth rate will be lower around 10-12%.
