Officials said the website–www.incometaxindia.gov.in– will host easy navigation tools for taxpayers and others so that they can easily do e-filing of their Income Tax Returns, lodge grievances, seek help from the department in this regard and look for their refunds.
The website, at present, hosts various links for use for taxpayers including a special section on new I-T circulars, notifications and laws.
The systems wing of the department has been on a spree for quite sometime now to continuously make I-T processes easy for taxpayers so that they can perform their tasks over the internet rather than going to a tax office.
“The new website will be operational very soon. The final systems are in the last test phase,” they said. The department has recently launched a pilot project to see if the lengthy scrutiny proceedings could be done over the email with the assesses even as it recently debuted on micro-blogging site Twitter with an exclusive handle– ‘IncomeTaxIndia_’.
