Wipro Infotech has won a ten year contract from Manipal Health Enterprises Private Limited (MHEPL). Wipro will implement its latest Hospital Information System Solution and data migration services across the Manipal Group’s Hospitals.
The proposed HIS application is patient-centric. It will provide immediate access to clinical, administrative and billing data required for the efficient functioning of a hospital. It will ensure high levels of automation, better availability of information; reduction in patient’s waiting time and better utilization of revenues.
Wipro’s engagement with Manipal Hospitals spans across a gamut of services encompassing integration of HIS with third party software, interfacing with lab equipments and providing infrastructure support services on HIS Platform.
Manipal Hospitals has been providing high quality healthcare services to patients for over five decades. The Manipal Health Enterprises’ Network of Hospitals manages around 4,900 beds through 15 hospitals, spread over 11 locations across 5 States in India. The network of hospitals covers all levels of delivery from primary to quaternary care. It has, over the years, built a significant committed clinical and healthcare skill pool of over 1,500 doctors and 5,500 nurses, paramedics and support staff, dedicated to its core values of “clinical excellence, patient centric services and ethical practices” and thereby delivering the highest standards of healthcare to its patients. MHE’s hospital network annually services around 2 million patients in India and overseas.
Rajen Padukone, CEO, Manipal Health Enterprises, said, “Given our plans for Hospital network and business expansion in the near future, it is essential that we complement this with a robust hospital information system that will help in taking us to the next level of our growth trajectory. Our strategic partnership with Wipro in this area will significantly improve efficiencies in providing quality service to our patients across our network.”
As an area of medical informatics the aim of an HIS is to achieve the best possible support of patient care and outcome and administration by presenting data where needed and acquiring data when generated with networked electronic data processing.
Dr Nagendra Swamy, President & Chairman, Quality Council, MHE, said, “The HIS implementation initiative will help Manipal Hospitals in improving Quality of Service Delivery by the way of process standardization and automation, improving Patient Satisfaction by reducing waiting time & hence improving overall efficiency of Hospital Operations. Quality is an integral aspect with regards to achieving service delivery standards and going forward we would like to have the benefit of the analytics that can be mined from the HIS and develop into actionable strategies. One of the benefits of having a state of the art HIS is improved monitoring of drug usage and study of effectiveness. This leads to the reduction of adverse drug interactions and thus addresses a major patient safety parameter.”
Nandkishor Dhomne, CIO, Manipal Health Enterprises, said, “This will help us in providing a completely integrated technology platform to all of our group hospitals helping in process standardization & automation, making data available at the point of care, reduce waiting time, real time dashboards for faster decision making by all stakeholders and improve overall efficiency.”
