HP has announced new deduplication solutions for the StoreOnce Backup family that deliver backup performance of up to 100 terabytes (TB) per hour and data recovery of up to 40 TB per hour in a single system.
“Clients are struggling with complex, incompatible storage solutions that are costly, hard to manage, underutilized and built for the past,” said Som Satsangi, Vice President, Enterprise Group, HP India. “We are transforming the storage industry with simplified and converged solutions that span from the midrange to the high end of the enterprise, enabling organizations to maximize the value from their information in the most efficient way possible.”
New StoreOnce Catalyst software for StoreOnce Backup systems allows clients to deduplicate data on application servers or backup servers before it is transferred to a centralized StoreOnce Backup system. Clients can use Data Protector 7, Symantec NetBackup or Symantec Backup Exec to manage deduplication and data movement in their StoreOnce Catalyst environment.
The StoreOnce B6200 48TB Backup system is available immediately worldwide with a US list price starting at $250,000 for a fully usable entry system from HP or authorized channel partners. StoreOnce Catalyst software and integration with HP Data Protector 7 Software and Symantec NetBackup is available immediately. Additional integration with Symantec Backup Exec will be available in August.
Data Protector 7 Software is available immediately worldwide directly from HP as well as channel partners. Cloud-based backup option is offered separately via a monthly subscription agreement. Virtual Connect Direct-Attach Fiber Channel for 3PAR Storage is currently available in limited quantities to early-adopter clients and will be available worldwide later this year.
HP now delivers:
- Reduced recovery time, capacity needs and bandwidth costs with StoreOnce Catalyst software, which offers the industry’s highest-performing backup-and-restore throughput when combined with the enhanced StoreOnce B6200 Backup
- Increased productivity with Data Protector 7 Software, powered by the Autonomy Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL), featuring governance tools that enable contextual backup and recovery of information
- Improved efficiency of server and storage connectivity with Virtual Connect Direct-Attach Fibre Channel for 3PAR Storage, which eliminates the need for complex, multitier storage area networks (SANs)
