VMware today announced that it has sold over a million licenses of its VMware AirWatch Mobile Device Management solution to enterprises in India to help them manage the mobility needs of their workforce. The company also announced that India was one of the fastest growing markets for its End User Computing business globally. AirWatch saw some notable wins in India – including Air Works, Axis Bank, Fullerton, IDFC Bank, Indigo Airlines, Mindtree, OYO Rooms, Wipro, and Zomato, among others.

Mobility and the shift to the mobile-cloud era are among the most transformational trends in business today. With the potential to affect many employees, customers and business interactions, mobility can empower organizations to be more competitive and successful. VMware AirWatch Mobile Device Management enables businesses to enroll devices in their enterprise environment quickly, configure and update device settings over-the-air, and secure mobile devices, from a single console.

“Enterprise mobility is a trend that is fundamentally redefining the workplace, its technology, and even how, when, and where people work today,” said Arun Parmeswaran, Managing Director, VMware India. “We, as an end user solution provider, play in the center of this revolution, with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions that enable organizations to adopt true business process transformation.”  “India represents one of the top growth markets for VMware when it comes to End User Computing and, as a leader, we are excited about the opportunities that are emerging for our business,” he added.

“Mobility is clearly one of the top priorities for businesses across the country. With the diversity in devices being brought to the workplace, businesses aren’t left with a choice but to implement a mobility strategy,” said Sanchit Gogia, Chief Analyst & CEO at Greyhound Research. “Today, AirWatch by VMware has emerged as the clear leader in the enterprise mobility space in India. Their strong product roadmap and investments in the business and ecosystem here have helped them grow and capture market share,” he added.

“Our IT roadmap has been designed around the mobility of our workforce who are constantly on the shop floor working on large airplanes. Our unique business model necessitates engineers to carry devices – whether they’re iPads or android devices – to work efficiently on the move,” said Ravinder Pal Singh- Global Chief Information and Technology Officer, Air Works. “We partnered with AirWatch to help us on our mobility journey as we believed their technology could help us securely manage the applications, content and devices our teams use, without impacting the efficiency and quality we pride ourselves on.”

“As a leader, we’re playing right at the center of the mobility revolution the industry is witnessing today. We understand that a mobile workforce is crucial for the success of our business and have invested in ensuring this is a priority for our organization,” said Satish Mittal, SVP, Technology, Vodafone Business Services. “We rolled out a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative with AirWatch to help us manage a variety of devices and platforms to offer our employees the freedom of choice and a superior user experience, while ensuring they can securely access email and corporate resources from their device of choice.”

“A key lever of our business is our pioneering property-management solution that helps connect nearly 5,000 properties via tablets. Delivery through the mobile platform is mission critical for us as we utilize the data gathered to update inventory, collate customer feedback and monitor performance,” said Anurag Gaggar, VP – Product, OYO Rooms. “AirWatch was our partner-of-choice since it offers flexibility and features that help enhance the app functionality.”

“Having a connected and productive workforce is crucial to the success of how we interact with our customers. At Fullerton, we’ve always challenged the status-quo, whether it’s the services we offer, or the technology we adopt for our business,” said Sudheer Prabhu, Chief Information Officer, Fullerton India Credit Co. Ltd. “We selected AirWatch to leverage a unified platform that can empower our workforce to work productively on the move, while also enabling us to secure the confidentiality of data that they’re accessing across devices.”  In 2015, VMware’s End-User Computing business grew over 30% year-over-year, bringing the total annual bookings run rate to over $1.2 billion.
