Careernet, recently published ‘Talent Priorities Outlook 2025’ report which offers a deeper understanding of the priorities that Human Resources (HR) and Talent Acquisition (TA) professionals have on top of their mind, as they step into 2025. Based on insights from 827 HR and TA leaders across industries, the report highlights trends such as AI-driven recruitment, employer branding, DEI initiatives, and the need for reskilling in a rapidly changing job market.

The Talent Priorities Outlook 2025 report brings out insights gathered through closed-room discussions and comprehensive surveys across sectors including technology, consulting, retail, BFSI, and others. This study provides a comprehensive view of the strategic imperatives shaping the talent landscape, offering actionable insights to help organisations adapt, innovate, and thrive in an ever-changing environment.

Careernet’s report reveals that 42% of organisations prioritises leveraging AI to optimise recruitment processes, 37% prioritises employer branding to attract top talent, and 21% prioritises driving impactful diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, among others. Sectoral trends show Consulting leading AI adoption (64%) and employer branding efforts (52%) and BFSI focusing on DEI (35%). The IT sector shows steady attention to DEI (29%), and employer branding (21%) and the other industries are gradually adopting AI (6%) and DEI initiatives (6%).

Leaders have varied opinions on the processes that will be influenced the most by AI. While 40% of HR and TA leaders consider job applications screening and shortlisting, 35% focus on workflow automation and 15% will use for enhancing candidate engagement, and 10% on automating job descriptions. Attracting and retaining top talent is a priority for 56% and 28% of HR and TA professionals, respectively. Companies are boosting employer branding through leadership development, improved candidate experiences, and unique value propositions to appeal to diverse talent. Meanwhile, 16% focus on promoting DEI.

The report reveals that 67% of respondents expect DEI to remain a core focus area in 2025, with organisations aiming to foster inclusive environments, while 19% expect it to remain neutral. However, 14% believe its importance will fade after the hype cycle.

Sharing his thoughts on the report, Anshuman Das, CEO and co-founder, Careernet, said, “The talent acquisition industry has witnessed more changes in the past 2-3 years than ever before, and 2025 is poised to be a year of renewed hiring strategies, bringing more stability. The shift in work patterns, adoption of automation, and increasing significance of skilling, upskilling and reskilling pose a new set of challenges as well as opportunities for both employees as well as employers. In 2025, talent priorities will focus on using technology more effectively, strengthening diversity and inclusion efforts, closing skill gaps, modern workforce management, and adapting to evolving work preferences. Organisations must innovate and invest in their workforce to thrive in this competitive landscape.”

The report also sheds light on the challenges in the talent management ecosystem. Among these is the misalignment between job titles and actual roles, which often leads to reduced candidate interest and satisfaction. Organisations are also grappling with the evolving nature of candidate expectations as professionals increasingly seek equity compensation like ESOPs/RSUs, virtual hiring processes, and ethical practices. This shift occurs alongside growing demands for flexible work arrangements and focus on well-being. Bridging skills gaps, particularly due to rapid technological advancements and fierce competition for emerging talent, has also emerged as a mounting challenge.
