LifeSize, a division of Logitech, has announced a software-based, virtualized multi-party video calling solution for enterprises on its UVC video conferencing software platform with new bridging offerings.
“Users are demanding that their business-class video conferencing solutions work seamlessly on tablets and smartphones alike. This offering addresses the massive demand for BYOD by addressing both employee and company needs through multi-party video collaboration,” commented Deepak Braganza, Country Manager – India & South Asia, LifeSize.
This solution from LifeSize’s kitty is designed to offer easier video calls over multiple devices including laptops and mobile devices. The offering also works across Android, Apple and Windows on a single bridge.
“The solution is beneficial for SMBs since the deployment cost is minimal and the actual cost is pay-per-use. Companies can pay according to usage and scale it up as and when required. It’s more cost-effective than hardware-based solutions,” said Raghu Belur, Senior Director – Engineering, LifeSize.
Larger rivals such as Cisco Systems and Polycom that offer video bridging solutions on hardware systems are also making efforts to offer video conferencing services through software prompted by the rapid growth in various devices used for video meetings, increased employee mobility and growing demand for interoperability between vendor platforms.
LifeSize’s solution supports scheduled video calls with dozens of participants to on-demand mobile video calling.
According to Frost & Sullivan, shipments of tablets into Indian enterprises are expected to exceed 49 million by 2015. This trend along with increasing popularity of broadband and 3G services are driving the adoption of video collaboration on handheld devices.
