Metromedi is a unified health store, delivers healthcare to the consumers in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Metromedi has launched two stores to go the omnichannel way. MetroMedi initially started delivering medicines in Hyderabad and then expanded to six more cities including Bengaluru, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Guntur, and Rajahmundry.

MetroMedi claims to have fulfilled more than 200,000 orders with a 99 per cent prescription fill rate. Apart from delivering medicines, the platform helps patients set a reminder to refill medicines automatically, recommends health foods, and also educates users with health tips on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. They have partnered with SRL Diagnostics & DoctorC for health check-ups, and organic food suppliers to deliver health foods like millets. The idea is to cater to the holistic healthcare needs of an individual covering the broad domains of prevention, cure and wellness management.

“Metromedi wants to use these stores to build trust with patients by selling medicines and educating them about ways to manage overall health,” said Maruthi from the company’s leadership team. “At Metromedi, our focus is on delivering 100% genuine medicines and solving the unavailability problem. While everyone is targeting the big cities, we want to deliver quality and affordable healthcare to the consumers in Tier-2 and Tier3 cities.

Currently, other brick and mortar pharmacies are fulfilling only 60 per cent of the orders, and most importantly, there are 25 per cent counterfeit medicines in the Indian market” he adds. As of today, Metromedi fulfils nearly 900 orders a day, acquires customers at 75% less cost than its competitors, is growing at 20-25 per cent month-on-month and, delivers orders in 8-24 hrs. “This month we opened our first health stores to get closer to the consumers and become their trusted health partner”, said Manikanta Byra, COO of MetroMedi. The company is targeting to serve 10 million consumers in the next five years.

MetroMedi is currently working on a set of complex problems and is committed to making quality healthcare accessible and affordable. First, the company wants to offer a wide range of quality nutritional products and expand these offerings to 15 cities in the next 10-12 months. Second, the firm is working on opening new stores to improve the accessibility of healthcare in Tier-II and Tier-III cities going the omnichannel way. Through this two-pronged approach, the company seeks to address one of the significant challenges in the contemporary Indian healthcare ecosystem.
