Narendra Modi government to bring new BPO policy
The Narendra Modi government is contemplating to introduce a new policy that will help BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) units set up base in smaller towns, especially in the North-Eastern India .
This policy is intended to prevent the youth from migrating to towns such as Bangalore, Gurgaon and Hyderabad where most of the BPOs are concentrated, said RS Sharma, secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, GoI.
“We are going to bring about a policy which will help set up Business Processing units in smaller cities. This will incentivise establishment of BPOs in rural areas so that it will be a win-win for both the employers and the youth who will not have to travel and live in rented accommodations.
This is way we want to go. This policy is on the anvil and it is going to come,” he said while addressing the audience at the 18th National Conference on eGovernance on Friday.
