After launching in the US last week, Oracle today announced the launch its SuperCluster T5-8 in Bangalore for the India market. The latest generation of SPARC SuperCluster T5-8 is claimed by Oracle as world’s fastest engineered system.
Oracle’s engineered systems come with pre-integrated Oracle servers, storage, networking and software technologies that are pre-tested together and ready to run in days, not months.
Based on the world’s fastest database server, ultra-fast database storage and the world’s fastest microprocessor, Oracle SPARC SuperCluster T5-8 delivers extreme performance and 10x better price performance than a comparable IBM Power7+-based solution.
With this announcement, Oracle continues its strategic investment in hardware to become the only company delivering the IT architecture of the future today – Hardware and software engineered to work together to redefine mid-range and high-end computing.
For T5-8, Oracle is targeting telecommunications, financial services, government, retail, manufacturing, education and healthcare verticals for this new engineered system.
“Enterprise customers today are besieged by infrastructure complexity and pressures to lower costs; and one strategic option available to them is to consolidate complex database and applications architectures as well as deploy private cloud environments,” said Ganesh Ramamurthy, Vice President, Development in Hardware Systems Division, Oracle Corporation.
“The Oracle SPARC SuperCluster runs Oracle Database and enterprise applications together on a single platform, lowering TCO through consolidation and delivering secure multi-tenant cloud services 5x faster than the traditional build-your-own IT approach,” added Ramamurthy.
To extend support to the latest SPARC SuperCluster T5-8, Oracle also introduced its Platinum Services, targeted at helping customers optimize the value of their technology investments. Oracle Platinum Services provide the highest service level in the industry and offers — 5 minute issue response, 15 minute restoration or escalation to development, 30 minute joint debugging, 24/7 monitoring, quarterly patching and system updates and proactive services to anticipate, identify and remediate issues.
Oracle Platinum Services, a special entitlement under Oracle Premier Support, is delivered at no additional cost and are exclusively available on Oracle Exadata, Exalogic and SuperCluster based on certified configurations.
“Oracle hardware and software are not only engineered to work together, they are also engineered to be maintained, updated, and supported together. With Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 engineered systems, we have once again demonstrated that we are uniquely qualified to provide optimized performance at every level of the integrated stack, delivering the essential services and resources business needs to maintain high availability, increase operational efficiency and gain competitive advantage,” said Mitesh Agarwal, CTO & Director-Systems Solution Consulting, Oracle India.
The SPARC SuperCluster T5-8 delivers extreme performance by co-engineering SPARC T5-8 servers and Oracle Exadata Storage Server hardware with Oracle database, middleware and systems software to provide up to 10x faster database and application performance than a build-your-own IT approach.
Versus a build-your-own IT approach, Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 helps increase data center efficiency through 5x lower TCO by running Oracle Database and enterprise applications together on a single system, 5x faster time to value, 32x faster deployment of database cloud services.
Engineered with no single point of failure, SuperCluster T5-8 enables the high availability needed for enterprise-critical databases and applications. Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 with built-in zero-overhead virtualization and security, combined with database and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) capabilities is ideal for consolidation and enterprise private cloud deployments.
The T5-8 integrates over 16 TB high-performance flash storage along with hundreds of compute cores of the world’s fastest microprocessor and hundreds of terabytes of accelerated database storage. It is tightly coupled with an extreme low-latency fabric and delivered, managed and optimized for unprecedented database and application performance.
Oracle accelerates application and database cloud service deployments on SuperCluster with Oracle Optimized Solutions for the Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, Enterprise Database Cloud, Oracle WebCenter Content and SAP.
Engineered, tested and integrated together, Oracle SuperCluster T5-8 provides best of breed technology at every level and enables customers to avoid the risks associated with build-it-yourself systems.
