Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJio), the mobile telephony arm of Reliance Industries (RIL), will provide advanced high-quality 4G (fourth-generation) voice calling using VoLTE technology along with high-speed data services, the company said in its annual report on Wednesday.
The telco will also roll out high-speed internet services using a fibre network, in addition to the 4G wireless network.
In the company’s annual report, RIL chairman Ambani said RJio has made significant progress in 4G rollout, including setting up physical network infrastructure, systems and processes, sales and distribution network, applications and services and content.
“RJio is working with strategic partners who have committed significant resources, knowhow and global talent to support deployment and testing activities currently underway,” Ambani has said.
In addition to its pan-India spectrum in the 2300 MHz band, which will be used by the company to roll out 4G, Reliance Jio has spectrum in either 800 MHz or 1800 MHz bandwidth or both in 20 of 22 circles in the country. The launch of its 4G services is expected to disrupt the existing market given the attractive pricing.
RJio, which has adopted a partnership model for telecom infrastructure for 4G wireless and fibre-based high-speed broadband services, has also received clearances to set up international internet gateways by Center for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) and DoT, the company said in in its annual report.
