US Technology International Pvt Ltd (UST Global) has adopted Cloud-based email security services from Symantec to mitigate email-borne security threats and preventing bandwidth over-utilization. UST Global, a provider of IT services and solutions, now has fully functional antivirus, anti-spam, content filtering and data loss prevention capabilities, delivered through the vendor’s MessageLabs Email Security.cloud.
The initiative has enabled UST Global to reduce email volume by 40% with unwanted email stopped in the Cloud. UST completed the migration to the SaaS-based service, that now serves over 10,000 users, within 48 hours, with two dedicated resources from the IT team, zero downtime and no email loss. The deployment also includes a SLA that covers 100% protection against known and unknown viruses and a 99% spam capture rate.
“With Fortune 1000 companies as customers, UST Global requires highly available technology to stay ahead, particularly since email is the primary method of communication for the distributed workforce,” said Basil Solomon, CISO, UST Global. “Symantec MessageLabs Email Security.cloud has eased and improved management of IT resources and the success of this deployment has given us confidence in the Cloud model.”
Prior to the deployment, UST Global had an on-premise solution which scanned each email onsite before delivery. This caused over utilization of Internet bandwidth on account of the spam that was hitting the internal gateways. This solution had the limitation of being dependent on an on-premise appliance and a single technology without a guaranteed service-level agreement (SLA). Further, the IT team was facing difficulties in management with concerns around viruses, spam, scalability and utilization.
“The Cloud model is ideal for UST Global since it simplifies management, reduces costs and guarantees availability and security,” said Jyoti Prakash, Country Sales Manager, India and SAARC, Symantec.Cloud. “Customers want to know that their information is secure and protected with a hassle-free and scalable experience.”
