Addressing the inaugural session of ‘Digital India Conclave 2014’ co-hosted by India Inc and Chase India in the capital today, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology said India is in its defining moments today and new technologies are proving to be a great leveler.
“If the country has to grow, then we must bridge the difference between rural India and digital India,” Prasad said.
The conclave is part of US-India Strategic Dialogue Series organised by India Inc, Chase India and FICCI Invest India under the “Digital India programme” It involves key stakeholders and influencers who focus on the potential of India US collaboration around some of the key initiatives of the Indian Government. These programmes will be part of the India US Partnership Hub that was launched during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US in September 2014.
This online-offline integrated four month programme will bring in perspectives and participation from senior policy decision makers in the Government and industry along with other key influencers around a discourse to achieve key objectives like identifying the challenges and opportunities in the Digital India initiative,and exploring how the India-US collaboration could help in achieving the Digital India vision. Involving key stakeholders and influencers in defining a roadmap that will lead towards a truly Digital India and produce a series of online – offline activities to facilitate discourse culminating in a bespoke online publication.
The conclave is to be followed by a roundtable in Washington in February 2015.
