WeChat issues new update to fix iOS App Store malware
The company said that the flaw, described in recent media reports, only affects WeChat v6.2.5 for iOS. Newer versions of WeChat (versions 6.2.6 or greater) are not affected.
WeChat has issued an official response saying the external malware has affected iOS users only on WeChat version 6.2.5 and upgrading to version 6.2.6 or greater fixes the malware. The update is now available for download from the App Store.
This step was taken after the reports of Apple’s App Store being attacked by XcodeGhost malware which has affected few apps including WeChat.
WeChat further states that there has been no theft or leakage of users information or money and the team is continuously monitoring the situation. It adds that their tech team is extensively experienced to combat attacks of this kind.
