Wipro bets on digital theme to drive growth
Wipro is gearing up to meet the challenges of rapidly-changing technology business environment by “turbocharging” the existing business and “dominating the future”, CEO TK Kurien said in the company’s annual report released on Monday. He referred to these as twin themes that the company will adhere to to drive growth.
Wipro expects digital theme to be a major focus of attention for managements who are keen on improving customer experience and raising productivity.
“We believe these twin themes will allow us to support our customer needs better and create a sustainable growth engine for ourselves,” Kurien said in a letter to the stakeholders.
Wipro also plans to partner with number of players within the eco-system to enhance its technology capability. It has already launched a $100-million corporate VC fund to invest in start-ups with cutting-edge capability.
Wipro chairman Azim Premji, in his address to stakeholders, said, “2015 marks the 70th year of the founding of your company. In these years, we have continuously strived to enhance the stakeholder value by operating in a sustainable and ethical manner.”
Rishad Premji took home R1.7 cr in FY15
Wipro chief strategy officer Rishad Premji, who was appointed to the board of directors in May 2015, received a total remuneration of close to R1.7 crore for FY15. Rishad, the elder son of Wipro chairman Azim Premji, joined the company in July 2007. His appointment as the executive director on the company’s board will ratified at the AGM on July 22.
