Alison Higgins-Miller, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Websense, in her presentation, ‘Creating Better Defences Against Advanced Security Attacks’, emphasised on the need for security to be looked at as a business issue and not an IT issue.
Saying that the same applies to the government, with citizens reaching out to them, for all sorts of information, Higgins-Miller stressed on the fact that citizens will want to know what’s happening to the data that the government is responsible for. She built an interesting picture of the global threat scenario, where attacks have gone from being blanketed attacks to targeted attacks.
Higgins-Miller futher spoke about the need for gathering information from across the globe and turning it into smart and predictive intelligence. She also talked about how the security industry is moving from product oriented to being intelligence focused.
